Sparks in September
"Sparks" is my monthly message where I share a few things that inspired me, gave me joy, or made me think in the last 30 days.
(Note: I’m not affiliated with any of these people/companies/products. I just appreciated them and want to share.)
🎼 Music 🎼
The Highwomen
I'm fairly obsessed with this new country supergroup. I mean, anything Brandi Carlile does is something I want to know about.
I've linked above to the official audio on Youtube, but of course, you can get it wherever you stream music.
If you listen to the first 4 songs of this album and don’t love the Highwomen...well, please don’t tell me, because you’ll break my heart.

”Ten Sessions” by This American Life
Did you know there's a type of therapy that helps deal with trauma in only ten sessions? Jamie Lowe goes through the therapy and records it for us to hear.
(Trigger Warning Here - Jamie suffers from PTSD as a result of sexual assault. She discusses her sexual assault in detail, so his episode may not be for everyone. )
“The Gift of Silence: Quieting the Mind” by Tara Brach
I needed a lot of help quieting my mind this month, and I always come back to Tara Brach when I need help finding peace and calm.
On the battle to control thoughts: “If we’re at war with our mind, if we’re trying to make our mind different, we’re going to always be at war.” This talk reminded me once again that if I’m fighting against what’s in my mind, I’m not accepting it (or myself).

How to Love Yourself: by Louise Hay (card deck)
You may have seen these if you follow me on Instagram. I often pull a card in the mornings, or whenever I feel like it.
🌐 Website 🌐
MyNoise.net
I love this white noise website because it helps me focus.
I love that they have themes like “I need to calm down” or “I need to focus in a noisy environment.” or “I work in an open office space.”

"Don't Buy Cheap Chocolate" by Seth Godin
Seth's always getting me thinking. And this is a great reminder as we head into October.
Seriously, let's think about where our chocolate comes from. 🍫
Thanks for joining me Sparks in September!
What gave you a spark of inspiration or joy this month? I'd love to hear about it.
